BOARD OF DIRECTORS

Seya Lumeya is a faith-driven leader, husband, father and founder of The Good Friend Nonprofit and a native of the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Seya moved to the United States in 2006 to pursue higher education at Fresno Pacific University.
Seya now serves as the Director of Climate & Culture / Adaptive Dispute Resolution at California State University, Chico, where he helps build healthier communities through conflict resolution, restorative practices, and leadership. His passion for humanitarian service continues to guide his work both locally and internationally.

Seya Lumeya

Blake Slater grew up in Southern California and graduated from Washington State University with a major in horticulture. Immediately following college graduation, he enrolled at Western Seminary in Portland, Oregon, receiving a Master of Divinity degree in 1974.
Blake served in various pastoral positions since that time, primarily as senior pastor for the last 41 years in just two different churches. Jenny and Blake are committed to missions and are grateful to be able to serve on The Good Friend Board of directors.

Jenny Slater was raised in London, England and worked as an Occupational Therapist in Oxford, where she met her husband Blake. They were married in London and moved to America. Jenny has served alongside Blake as a Pastor’s wife for 49 years.

Mary and her husband were self employed for 23 years before they sold their business and became missionaries in Ecuador.
They served in Calacali, Ecuador for seven year where he served as the Director of Operations. Upon returning to the states.

Erik Simchuk, MD

Cady Lumeya is a faith-driven leader, wife, mother, and co-founder of The Good Friend, a ministry dedicated to serving and uplifting communities through compassion, hope, and love.
With a Master of Public Health degree and a passion for serving others, Cady is committed to using her professional experience, God-given purpose, and heart for people to create meaningful impact both locally and globally.

Ryan Tipton

Howard and his wife Mary were self employed for 23 years before they sold their business and became missionaries in Ecuador.
They served in Calacali, Ecuador for seven year where he served as the Director of Operations. Upon returning to the states, Howard worked for Hume Lake Christian Camps as the Director of Activities.
Currently, he works for Clovis Christian Church as the Property Manager. Howard serves on the mission board at CCC and truly has a heart for missions around the world.

Erica Resendez has spent more than 14 years as an educator, with a career centered around children, families, and the belief that every person deserves to feel supported and valued. She is passionate about serving others, building meaningful relationships, and creating opportunities for individuals and communities to thrive.
Erica is grateful for the opportunity to serve on the Board of Good Friend Congo and contribute to a mission that reflects values close to her heart.
