CURRENT & ONGOING PROJECTS

The Good Friend is working to complete the physical, practical, and operational needs of the Kikwit Medical Care Center so it can serve individuals and families with accessible, affordable, and compassionate care.

Each project below represents a needed step toward opening and sustaining a place of healing for the local community.

01

Clinic Security Fencing

A secure perimeter helps protect patients, healthcare workers, medicines, medical equipment, and essential infrastructure while creating a safe and organized environment for delivering healthcare. In rural communities such as Kikwit, protecting health facilities helps ensure uninterrupted access to medical services for the surrounding population.

02

Water Filtration System

Clean water is fundamental to safe healthcare. Installing a water filtration system at the Good Friend Care Center will provide safe water for drinking, patient care, handwashing, medical procedures, cleaning, and sanitation.

Reliable access to clean water helps prevent infections, improves patient outcomes, and strengthens the clinic's ability to respond to outbreaks while serving thousands of families in rural Kikwit.

03

Building a Morgue

A dedicated morgue will allow the Good Friend Care Center to provide families with dignified and respectful care for their loved ones while strengthening the clinic's ability to respond during disease outbreaks and other public health emergencies.

Proper mortuary services support infection prevention, reduce unnecessary handling of the deceased, and help healthcare facilities provide safer and more effective care to the community. This is especially important in Kikwit, a region with a history of Ebola outbreaks and other infectious diseases.
